Full Concert - In Nomine in Madrid
Recorded live on 21st May, 2022

In May 2022, we did our 2nd flight-free tour to the continent, travelling by car and then train from London all the way to Madrid. While the travelling was… complicated, the performance went well and we’re delighted to be able to share with you the full concert.

You can download the programme here.

FoF Christmas Concert, 2021

Merry Christmas to all Friends of Fretwork! As a huge thank you for all your support this year and as a little Christmas present from us, we filmed a Christmas concert exclusively for you. The programme includes Friends’ requests as well as some Fretwork favourites.

We hope you enjoy the concert and here’s to a happy 2022!

Paradise Lost with Simon Callow
FoF Early Access

With readings by Simon Callow, ‘Paradise Lost’ centres on the seven Sinfonias of Leonora Duarte. She is the only female composer to have written viol consort music in the 17th Century and lived in Antwerp in the middle of the 17th century where her family were jewellery merchants. Our programme traces the connections between the Duarte family and scientific, political, intellectual & literary figures in their circle including Milton and Spinoza.

Another video from our German CD recording sessions

Here’s Samuel Scheidt’s ‘Canzon super “O Nachbar Roland”, taken from the recording sessions from our upcoming German CD. It’s a fantastic piece and great fun, especially at the end when Scheidt introduces an exciting, semi-quaver-ridden variation on the theme…

Exclusive video track from our upcoming CD of German music!

During lockdown, we managed to get together with Iestyn Davies to record a CD of early baroque music by German composers. This stunning disc is going to feature music by Tunder, Schein, Schütz, and Johann Christoph Bach. In the mean time, here’s a video from the recording sessions - ‘Auf dem Gebirge’ sung by Iestyn Davies and Hugh Cutting.
